Our rowing summer clinic is back! Learn to Row with The Port Rowing Team in this 3 week clinic taking place on August 4, 11, and 18 from 2-5pm.
Week One: Girl Scouts will cover basic boat skills, take a tour
of the boathouse, learn rowing technique on the rowing machine, and
strokes in a boat by the beach.
Week Two: Girl Scouts will
receive a refresher of rowing technique and terminology on the rowing
machine, then go out into the harbor in boats.
Week Three: A
continuation of the skills learned in week two.
Should
weather or water conditions permit practicing in the water in the
second or third week, Girl Scouts will do "by-the-beach"
practice strokes as in the first session. They will also complete some
more in depth work on the rowing machines.
Important: This is a drop-off event, no additional
adults or tag-alongs permitted. Girl Scouts will receive a fun patch
at the end of the program. Girl Scouts should bring water shoes,
clothes that can get wet, fitted bottoms as loose pants may get caught
in the tracks of the boat, a hat, and sunscreen.
Location: The Port Rowing Boat House at North Hempstead Beach Park, North Entrance #2
