Nature Explorers - Daisies and Brownies

Explore the sights, sounds, and shapes found throughout the gardens and greenhouses at Planting Fields Foundation. Inspired by the plants, animals, and natural spaces around them, participants will reflect on the world of nature and their connection to it. Each Girl Scout will engage in hands-on activities, including a citizen science project, planting seeds to take home, and creating nature-inspired crafts, celebrating curiosity, creativity, and the wonders of the natural world.

Get out on the trail and explore the dynamic ecosystem of Leeds Pond Preserve in Port Washington. Naturalist programs offer Girl Scout troops of all levels unique opportunities to meet requirements across a variety of outdoor-based badge programs.

Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout - Daisies
Year-round availability
Foster connection, inclusion, and respect among Girl Scouts by learning basic American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary and exploring deaf culture. Discover how to communicate across barriers, promote kindness, and ensure every person feels valued. Strengthen the bonds of sisterhood by encouraging empathy and breaking down communication obstacles. You’ll receive a Sign Language fun patch and printouts to take home.

Raise Your Voice! The Hamilton Experience - Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors
Year-round availability
Inspired by Hamilton: An American Musical, this workshop invites Girl Scouts to explore the power of language, leadership, and self-expression through American Sign Launguage (ASL), rhythm, and storytelling. Participants examine how communication—spoken, sung, and signed—can inspire change, then create their own “My Voice Matters” piece to express personal values and goals. This program fosters confidence, creativity, and social awareness while connecting history to modern expression. Fun patch optional.

Senses Workshop - Brownies
Year-round availability
Explore the five senses—sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell—through fun and interactive activities. Gain insights into how the five senses work and how they shape your experiences of the world. You’ll also be introduced to the experiences of individuals who are deaf or have other sensory differences, emphasizing inclusivity and understanding. By learning basic sign language and insights into deaf culture, you’ll gain a better appreciation of the diversity of human experience. You’ll leave with a Sign Language fun patch and printables to take home.

Sign Language Fun Patch Workshop - All Levels
Year-round availability
Discover the world of American Sign Language (ASL)! Learn the ASL alphabet, basic signs, and the Girl Scout Promise in ASL. The program promotes inclusion, empathy, and communication access for all. Sign Language fun patch is included.

Uniquely Us Workshop - Juniors
Year-round availability
Discover and celebrate what makes each of us one of a kind! Through discussion, creative art, and American Sign Language (ASL) practice, girls explore self-expression, mental wellness, and inclusivity. They’ll learn ASL signs for emotions and friendship, create a “Uniquely Me” project, and learn the Girl Scout Promise in ASL—building confidence and empathy along the way. Sign Language fun patch is included.

Unmasking K-Pop Demon Hunters - All Levels
Year-round availability
Explore nonverbal communication, teamwork, friendship, and identity through the exciting world of K-Pop Demon Hunters. Decode visual cues, discuss how emotions are expressed without words, and design your own K-Pop character mask or cut-out doll. Celebrate who you are while learning how music and visuals can tell powerful stories. Fun patch optional.

Kitchen Chemistry - Brownies
Year-round availability
Did you know that many chemical reactions happen when you’re preparing, eating, and digesting your food? We’ll cook up a balloon-inflating demonstration that helps illustrate what makes dough rise. You’ll sort common kitchen activities into chemical and physical reactions and learn about the nutrients that fuel our bodies. You’ll also test food samples in search of starch and protein, making you a true kitchen chemist!

Then, release your inner artist as you design and decorate your own jar, cap, and bag to package and take home your scrub creation!

Self Defense is a Life Skill - Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, and Adult Volunteers

Weekends after 3:30 pm
Learn foundational life skills of situational awareness and self-defense; practice holding your space and creating a confident presence. Discuss fight or flight instincts and decision-making that's right for yourself and your family. Share ideas about potentially dangerous situations and connect it to the proper action to take. Then, learn how to break out of wrist holds, chokes, and hair grabs—essential skills for safely escaping an attack.

Explore art, history, and self-expression at Planting Fields! In this art and history-based workshop, discover how people of the past shared their stories through portraits and personal style. Inspired by the many portraits that fill the Main House, participants will reflect on their own identities and what makes them unique. Create an oil pastel self-portrait that celebrates your individuality while connecting to the ways people have represented themselves throughout history.

Rainstick Building and Sound Bath Relaxation - All levels and Adult Volunteers
Flexible days and times
Join us for a unique relaxation experience that blends hands-on creativity with musical mindfulness. Troop members will begin by crafting their very own rain stick using building materials and art supplies. All materials are included, and everyone will receive step-by-step guidance—no experience needed! Once the rain sticks are complete, the troop will settle in for a peaceful sound bath meditation. Gentle tones from singing bowls, chimes, ocean drum, and voice will help them unwind, reset, and enjoy a moment of calm in a busy world. Together, we’ll explore creativity, music, and wellness in a fun and meaningful way.
