Daisies: Discover the wonders of nature at the shore! Take a guided walk to the beach to explore the shapes, patterns, and numbers found throughout our coastal ecosystem. From seashell spirals to repeating patterns in nature, you'll discover how math appears all around us and create a colorful seashell craft inspired by the natural world. Then, continue the fun with the GSNC Camp Blue Bay team during a hands-on art workshop.
Brownies: Calling all adventurers! Step into the role of a navigator and explore Jones Beach like a true trailblazer. You'll learn how to use a compass, discover how people once told time using a sundial, and put your new skills to the test on an exciting outdoor adventure. Continue the fun with the GSNC Camp Blue Bay team as you create a one-of-a-kind, nature-inspired art project.
Juniors: Dive into the fascinating world of marine life! Discover the animals that call our local waters home and learn how different species depend on healthy habitats to survive. Begin a fun ocean-themed craft to complete at home and then head out on a guided walk along the bay to explore the coastal environment firsthand. Along the way, you'll learn how you can help protect ocean animals and their habitats. Continue the adventure by creating a unique art project with the GSNC Camp Blue Bay team!
Families: Make it a family day! While Girl Scouts participate in badge activities, families can explore the Nature Center, relax at the beach, enjoy additional GSNC activities, and stop by community partner tables for even more fun. Pack a lunch and make the most of your day at Jones Beach! Community partner tables will be open from 10am-1pm with activities for the entire family to enjoy.
Girl Scout programs run from 10:30am-1:00pm. A snack will be provided to all registered Girl Scouts during the program. Please report any food allergies your Girl Scout may have in the dietary restriction field when you register.
Important: Only Girl Scouts participating in the badge program need to pay the registration fee. Adults and family guests who plan on enjoying the Jone Beach Nature center while their Girl Scout is participating in the badge program, still need to register. A $10 parking fee will be collected by Jones Beach upon entrance to the Energy & Nature Center. Girl Scouts are asked to dress in their vest or sash and wear comfortable closed toe shoes. Jones Beach highly recommends using bug spray prior to the program as the Girl Scouts will be outside. Please report any food allergies your Girl Scout may have in the dietary restriction field when you register.
