100 Anniversary of Girl Scouting in Nassau County Programs

Approximately six years after the first Girl Scouts blazed the trail of redefining what was possible for themselves, the first official Girl Scout troop in Nassau County was established circa 1918. Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) will be honoring this amazing milestone by celebrating all that Girl Scouts do throughout the 2018-2019 year.

Service Hours Challenge

As Girl Scouts, we set out to “help others” and live the Girl Scout Promise and Law. During 2019 Girl Scout Month (March 2019), our council is challenging ourselves to complete 100,000 hours of community service. This means each Girl Scout needs to complete roughly 6 hours to achieve our goal.

Pen Pal Program

In honor of our Centennial Celebration, we are re-introducing our pen pal program, My Girl Scout Pen Pal. We are matching 50 registered Gold Award Girl Scouts with 50 Girl Scout troops.

My Girl Scout Pen Pal not only connects our alum with our troops, it also enhances girls’ reading, writing and creativity skills. Girls will learn about others and form new bonds, too!

We are excited to see all of the new “Pals” that are formed from this program. Our hope is that it will continue past our Centennial Celebration. Stay tuned!
