The GSNC Board Development Committee is now accepting Referrals
• Members-at-Large for the Board of Directors
• Successor Members to the Board Development Committee (BDC)
Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Board Development Committee (BDC) is charged with slating candidates for the elected positions in our Council. The BDC does its work by soliciting referrals from our membership, as well as from leaders in the civic and business communities we serve. The BDC reviews all referrals received and based on the needs of the Council, interviews those candidates who appear to best meet those needs.
Board members must agree to accept fiduciary responsibility for the Council to serve as stewards of this Council’s assets and to set policies that will further the work of Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC). In addition, Board members also agree to make an annual personal financial contribution to the Council to assist the Council in developing new resources and to serve as advocates for Girl Scouting. Girls 14 and over can serve as Board members.
Members of the BDC review the leadership needs of the Council, solicit referrals, and work to match appropriate individuals to vacancies. BDC members should be committed to the mission of Girl Scouts, having strong community connections and be prepared to make confidential decisions.
If you or someone you know is interested in serving GSNC in any of these elected positions, please submit referrals to the BDC using the Referral Form for GSNC's Board of Directors or Board Development Committee. Forms are available at the Service Center, on the OLC and on our website. Candidates will be announced in the Spring and an election will take place at the GSNC Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at LIU Post. Terms begin immediately following that meeting.
The current members of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Board Development Committee are: Natalie Borneo (Chair), Elizabeth Alford, Lisa Burke, Andrea Henderson, Carmel Mendoza, Carol Ransom, Melanie Sinesi, Valerie Terzano and Denise Voda.
Referrals are due by January 15, 2020.
