Any Girl Guide/Girl Scout group (girl-only and boys and girls mixed), aged 7-14 can take part in this one-of-a-kind program. Free Being Me has been created with world-leading experts in body confidence. Studies have shown that taking part in activities like those in Free Being Me has a lasting impact on girls’ well-being. Through fun and interactive activities, children and young people learn that body confidence and self-esteem come from valuing their bodies, standing up to social pressures, and supporting others to be more body confident. By working together, leading others and speaking out, participants will be empowered to make a difference in their local and global communities. Centennial Patch Program
The Centennial Patch Program will enable Girl Scouts to explore how the Past, the Future, their Self and their Community have positively impacted their Girl Scout experiences in Nassau County.
Requirements for earning the patch: There will be 4 Rockers, each named for the 4 areas: The Past; The Future; Self and Community. Complete at least 1 Rocker to earn the main patch.

Centennial of Women's Suffrage in New York
November 2017 marks the 100-year anniversary of New York women gaining the right to vote—three years before the ratification of the 19th Amendment granted women nationwide the right to vote. In collaboration with the NYS Women’s Suffrage Commission, the Centennial of Women's Suffrage in New York Girl Scout Patch Program has been created to honor this momentous occasion.

Looking for your first Patch Program to work on, try our new Girl Scouting at Home Patch Program, created to to commemorate our new Girl Scouting at Home program! Girl Scouts can earn their patch by completing five tasks for each of the seven categories. Patches will be available for in-store purchase/pickup in the GSNC Shop.

Girl Scouts Feeding New York
Food insecurity is the lack of access to affordable and nutritious food. Although food insecurity was a problem before the COVID-19 pandemic the current crisis has made this issue worse. Almost half of the people affected by food insecurity are children under the age of 18. The elderly population also struggle with food insecurities. Donations to a food bank or spreading awareness about food insecurity is a great way to help with this growing problem. Taking part in Girl Scouts Feeding New York is a great way to help fight food insecurity.
Girls Having Strong, Healthy Lungs: Asthma Awareness
This 2002 patch program developed in conjunction with the Nassau-Suffolk Asthma Coalition has activities for all age levels. Through this program girls learn about the respiratory system, how we breathe, and how to identify asthma triggers in our environment. It encourages girls to develop a healthy lifestyle by avoiding cigarette smoke, eating healthy foods, and exercising regularly. (All age levels)

This program teaches Girl Scouts to take control of their bodies and stay strong and healthy. Nutrition and exercise are stressed. (All age levels)

This patch program is designed to help Girl Scouts of all cultures develop an understanding and appreciation of the Hispanic/Latino culture through History, Dance, Literature and the Arts.
Hurricane Awareness
“Be prepared” is the Girl Scout motto. Being prepared for a hurricane or tropical storm is important for Long Islanders. Historically, hurricanes have left an imprint on our shoreline and communities many times. Therefore, it is important to know how to prepare for this kind of weather emergency. By completing this patch program, you will gain a better understanding of Long Island’s hurricane history and how to be better prepared for hurricanes and tropical storms. This patch program will help Girl Scouts on Long Island understand the potential impact of hurricanes and learn how to be better prepared in the event of a hurricane or tropical storm. (All levels)

Summer Service Challenge
Every girl can make a difference this summer! We’re challenging you to perform community service. All you need to do is tell us what kind of community service you performed and keep track of it. Simply print a copy of the GSNC Summer Service Challenge Log and fill it in every time you take part in a community service activity. At the end of the summer, return the log to the GSNC Shop. Let’s see how many hours Girl Scouts of Nassau County can get towards the Summer Service Challenge. We want to beat 1470 hours! Can We Do it?

SUM-MORE Girl Scouting
Girl Scouting can be a year-round activity for girls. The summer months provide opportunities for girls to participate in activities that require warmer weather or take longer to accomplish than a Troop meeting. Stay in touch with your Troop during the summer and have fun with SUM-MORE Girl Scouting Patch Program activities. (All levels)
