Blue Bay on Your Block

Camp Blue Bay is hoping to offer both in-person and virtual options for 2021!

Join some of your favorite camp staff on Zoom, Monday-Friday, for an exciting hour-long activity with camp friends old and new. Each session will be designed to engage and facilitate interaction between campers and staff. Registering gives your camper access to their group’s daily live activity plus an additional evening activity.

Session One: Go Viral
July 12-16, 2021
Craft like a DIYer, dance your heart out and take a shot at a trendy tutorial led by our camp staff.

Session Two: Laugh S’more
July 19-23, 2021
Laugh S’more during this week of traditional camp activities.

Session Three: Backyard Beauty
July 26-30, 2021
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Get to the root of nature in your neighborhood, create art using natural elements, and discover the beauty around you.

Session Four: Science on Your Screen
August 2-6, 2021
Build something, make art using science, and grasp concepts of nature in this science-filled week!

Session Five: Earth to Campers
August 9-13, 2021
A week of exciting activities designed to bring the wonder of nature to your block.

Session Six: Everyday Art
August 16-20, 2021
From recycled art to friendship bracelets, take basic supplies beyond their normal everyday use. If you can imagine it, you can create it!

Pricing

Cost: $100 per session per Girl Scout

Included in your registration is our awesome Camp Kit. Your Camp Kit will include the supplies and printed instructions needed for daily activities, a Camp Blue Bay Trading Post item, a special T-shirt, a songbook, and an invitation to our Virtual Final Campfire.

Typical Day and Logistics

What will a typical Blue Bay on YOUR Block Schedule look like for my daughter?

Each day, Monday through Friday your daughter will participate in a group based on her grade as of September 2021.  

9:30am – 10:30am     
1st to 5th grade girls                   
11:00am – 12:00pm 
6th to 10th grade girls

During this session, girls will interact with staff and friends with activities based on the theme for the week. Each day will start with a welcome, sharing time and then an activity of the day. Activities will vary each day to include games, arts & crafts, nature, camp craft, and STEM throughout the week.

7:15pm each night, girls will be invited to take part in an “All Camp Activity” where all age groups will gather to join in on the fun together. 

Evening Activities each week to include:

  • Unit Campfire (Live on Zoom)
  • Interest Groups (Live on Zoom)
  • Camp Snack (at Home)  
  • All Camp (Live on Zoom)
  • Final Campfire (Pre Recorded)

In addition, each girl/parent will have the option to join a private Facebook group for your daughter’s specific group for the week. Here you and your daughter will be able to post pictures of projects and activities completed at home, share ideas, post questions, and access additional at-home activity resources.

How will all of this work?

Prior to your daughter’s session, you will receive an email with everything you will need to prepare your daughter for a great week of fun.

Information to be included:

  • Zoom group invites for your daughter’s age-specific zoom group.
  • Zoom group invite for optional evening “All Camp Activities”.
  • Private Facebook group invite for your daughter’s specific zoom group
  • Weeks schedule of activities for the session

What is included in the “Camp Kit” and what do I need to have to be prepared for my daughter’s session?

Be sure to register early to ensure your daughter’s “Camp Kit” will arrive in time!

When your box arrives it will have most of the items needed to participate in all activities but we may ask you to gather some basic things from around the house. These items will be listed in the campers Blue Bay on Your Block Activity Book. 

Items to gather may include but not limited to:

  • Scissors
  • Glue or Glue Stick
  • Ruler
  • Crayons or Markers
  • Cups or bowls for mixing
  • Basic baking supplies, flour, sugar, salt, etc.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County is happy to continue our partnership with Campdoc.com  for online camper registration and health information.

The security, confidentiality, and privacy of your camper’s personal health information will always be protected. Only Girl Scouts of Nassau County camp health staff will have access to camper health information, and the  Campdoc.com site is secure, encrypted, and password protected.

Once you sign up for a Campdoc.com account, you will be able to register your camper, select a session and pay online. Once registered you will receive additional information about how to complete your camper’s information profile.  We are excited to continually evolve, building safer, more productive, and more efficient systems to create the best experience for you and your family!

Financial Assistance - If you need financial assistance and reside in Nassau County, please be sure to check the appropriate box during the registration process, complete information online, and submit the required documentation. If the award granted does not meet your needs, your deposit will be returned to you.

Camper Information – Please be sure to complete the “Camper Information Tag” along with your registration to provide the important information and permissions needed for your daughter to participate in Blue Bay on Your Block

Camp Policies

Expectations
A Blue Bay Internet Pledge is included with the registration process. Please review the camp internet pledge with your camper before registering, so everyone understands the expectations. Both parent/guardian and camper signatures are required on this document to register for camp.  

Refund Policy
The $50 per session deposit will not be refunded or transferred after camp registration is confirmed. The balance of the fee will be refunded only if the camper does not attend due to illness or injury that is confirmed by physician’s letter. No refunds will be made if a camper cancels, arrives late, leaves early or does not attend the entire session for any reason.
