Outstanding Volunteer Award is for a volunteer in a position other than a leader who meets the following criteria:

Is currently registered as a Girl Scout Adult Member
-
Completes appropriate training or demonstrates ability / skills for the position

Perform at a level that exceeds the expectations of the position as outlined in the position description agreement in one of more of the following areas: Membership, Program, Fund Development, Pluralism, Marketing and Communications, Strategic Leadership / Governance, Human Resources

Outstanding Leader Award is for a Troop Leader, Co-Leader, or
Coordinator for outstanding performance in working with girls and meets the following criteria:

Is currently registered as a Girl Scout Adult Member

Demonstrates competence in at least two of the following;

Involving adults in the community to help broaden opportunities for girls
-
Increasing girl membership to support the council membership goal
-
Helping girls to recognize, understand, and practice the values of inclusive behavior

Building an effective Girl Led Leadership approach with girls

Appreciation Pin
Recognizes volunteers actively giving outstanding service
meeting one or more of the Council goals in membership
growth and retention, fund development, or increased
community visibility in at least one geographic area. The
volunteer actively recognizes, understands and practices
the values of inclusive behavior.

Honor Pin
Recognizes volunteers actively giving outstanding service
by significantly contributing to one or more Council goals
in membership growth and retention, fund development,
or increased community visibility in two or more geographic
areas. The volunteer actively recognizes, understands,
and practices the values of inclusive behavior.

Thanks Badge
Recognizes volunteers actively giving service impacting
the council or the entire Girl Scout movement, who have
taken a leadership role at the Council level in one or more
of the following areas during the previous four years:
Increasing membership growth and retention, increasing
the percentage of adult generated funding in the total
Council income, increasing innovative program opportunities
Council-wide, developing broad participation in
policy-influencing through the democratic process and
ensuring that inclusive behavior is recognized, understood,
and practiced at all levels.

Recognizes prior Thanks Badge Recipients who have
taken a leadership role in developing a model that has
been replicated at the national level in one or more of
the following areas in the previous three years:
Membership, Program, Fund Development, Pluralism,

New for 2011 is Girl Scouts of Nassau County Continuing Service Award!
This award will be presented to Volunteers that are nominated after receiving the Appreciation, Honor or Thanks Badge and have continued service for an additional five years. The Award Pin will depict a tree as a symbol of continuity, continued growth and service to Girl Scouts of Nassau County.
