Girl Scout Adult Volunteers Awards and Recognitions
At Girl Scouts of Nassau County we value all of our volunteers and recognize the contributions they make in developing girl leaders. We commend those individuals who provide service to Girl Scouting that is "above and beyond" the expectations of their volunteer position. GSUSA awards and Girl Scouts of Nassau County awards are intended for those volunteers who provide exemplary service.
All of the GSUSA Adult Recognitions Awards are based on nomination and are earned progressively.
There are 12 awards honored by Girl Scouts of Nassau County:

For a volunteer in a position other than a leader who meets the following criteria:
Is currently registered as a Girl Scout Adult Member
Completes appropriate training or demonstrates ability/ skills for the position
Perform at a level that exceeds the expectations of the position as outlined in the position description agreement in one of more of the following areas: Membership, Program, Fund Development, Pluralism, Marketing and Communications, Strategic Leadership / Governance, Human Resources

Outstanding Leader Award
For a Troop Leader, Co-Leader, or Coordinator for outstanding performance in working with girls and meets the following criteria:
Is currently registered as a Girl Scout Adult Member
Demonstrates competence in at least two of the following;
Involving adults in the community to help broaden opportunities for girls
Increasing girl membership to support the council membership goal
Helping girls to recognize, understand, and practice the values of inclusive behavior
Building an effective Girl Led Leadership approach with girls

The following Awards are reviewed by the Adult Recognitions Committee composed of Volunteers from GSNC with a staff liaison. These awards are presented at the Annual Adult Recognitions Event on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Long Island University C.W. Post Campus, Hillwood Commons Auditorium from 1:00pm - 4:00pm.
Nomination deadline is January 15, 2012.
Recognizes volunteers actively giving outstanding service meeting one or more of the Council goals in membership growth and retention, fund development, or increased community visibility in at least one geographic area. The volunteer actively recognizes, understands and practices the values of inclusive behavior.

Recognizes volunteers actively giving outstanding service by significantly contributing to one or more Council goals in membership growth and retention, fund development, or increased community visibility in two or more geographic areas. The volunteer actively recognizes, understands, and practices the values of inclusive behavior.

Recognizes volunteers actively giving service impacting the council or the entire Girl Scout movement, who have taken a leadership role at the Council level in one or more of the following areas during the previous four years: Increasing membership growth and retention, increasing the percentage of adult generated funding in the total Council income, increasing innovative program opportunities Council-wide, developing broad participation in policy influencing through the democratic process and ensuring that inclusive behavior is recognized, understood, and practiced at all levels.

Recognizes prior Thanks Badge Recipients who have taken a leadership role in developing a model that has been replicated at the national level in one or more of the following areas in the previous three years: Membership, Program, Fund Development, Pluralism, Marketing, Strategic Leadership and Human Resources.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County Continuing Service Award!
This award will be presented to Volunteers that are nominated after receiving the Appreciation, Honor or Thanks Badge and have continued service for an additional five years. The Award Pin will depict a tree as a symbol of continuity, continued growth and service to Girl Scouts of Nassau County.

The following two Pins are not awarded by nomination. Each Leader / Volunteer should complete their own application and either send it in or drop it off at the front desk.

Volunteer Years of Service Pin
Recognizes an adult member registered with GSUSA for her /his years of active volunteer service at five year intervals 25 years and above at a Council Event.
GSUSA Years of Service Application
Is awarded to a Registered Adult member for years in Scouting including years as a Girl Scout and as an adult in 5 year intervals 25 years and above at a Council Event.
