OKTOBERFEST 2009 – GOT CANDY?

Dear Oktoberfest Participants past, present and future,

Over the years, we have heard from many of our volunteers how they would like to be part of Oktoberfest, but it's just too far away, or they can't get child care for the weekend.  Well do we have some great news to share with all of you; look for a new and improved Oktoberfest coming your way in 2010!  Those of us who have been fortunate enough to experience Oktoberfest are excited about having so many more of you be able to join us here closer to home in Nassau County. 

We are already thinking of exciting ideas to retain the flavor of Oktoberfest, but in a way that makes it more accessible for all of you.    Even this early, the chatter is energizing and it promises to be a wonderful experience.  One of the main focuses in our planning is to create an event that is flexible in time, location and program, providing the opportunities to be part of a session, a day or perhaps the weekend.  If you have an idea, please feel free to send it my way.  I'll be in touch as the details develop, so keep a look out for me online and in Girlfriends.

I am excited to be part of ushering this long standing tradition into the next 30 years with the support of Council.  Many of our current committee members will continue to work on revitalizing Oktoberfest with us.  A special thank you is extended to all of them for their dedication throughout the years and their determination to help us make this a successful venture.  See you in 2010!
