Oktoberfest 2008 - Legend of the Blue Bay Pearl

An adult learning/networking/getaway weekend - or day trip!

October 17-19, 2008 at Camp Blue Bay in East Hampton

Yo Ho . Matey! Join us at Gardiner's Cove ( Camp Blue Bay ), a Safe Haven for 1st Mates & Captains alike! Polish your Buckles and be part of the "Legend of the Blue Bay Pearl". Celebrate the "Code of the Sea" and find a "Treasure Chest of New Ideas". Share laughter and friends "New and Old".

DETAILS

Weekender: $65.00 per person ($75 for participants who are not registered adults with GSNC) includes:

  • sleeping accommodations for Friday (10/17) and Saturday (10/19).
  • five workshops (some workshops may include an additional fee).
  • four meals, two snacks and a
  • variety of activities throughout the weekend.
  • late registration fees after September 20th

Daytripper (Saturday, October 18th only): $40.00 per person ($45 for participants who are not registered adults with GSNC) includes:
  • roundtrip transportation by coach bus, (departs promptly at 6:45AM from the Service Center ) and returns to the Service Center at approximately 9PM with a quick stop for a fast-food dinner -on your own.
  • four workshops (some workshops may include an additional fee).
  • lunch, one snack and special program activities for the day.
  • late registration fees after September 20th

TRIP TRAINING 1-101A - What is a Girl Scout trip? How do we get ready for a trip? This course will help the leader/coordinator to take the girls on any trip or activity considered a Girl Scout event. Budgeting, safety, transportation and other topics will be discussed. Trip Training is the pre-requisite for Outdoor 1 (NOTE: This workshop covers two sessions 1 & 2)

THE AFFECTION CONNECTION 1-104 - The Affection Connection will work to develop an understanding of the positive expectations, behaviors and feelings involved in healthy romantic relationships. Activities will explore possessiveness, intimidation, feeling powerful or powerless, jealousy, changing oneself to please someone else, insults and ways to negotiate.

TOOL SCHOOL 101 AND SIMPLE HOME REPAIRS 5-504 - Have you ever had a hole in the wall, or a toilet run, constantly? How about drafts coming from "somewhere" near the outlets, or around the door or windows? This hands-on workshop will teach you how to fix these and several other things, to keep your utilities and repair costs WAY DOWN. We will also do some fix-ups and pretty-ups if time permits.
