Leadership Training
Girl Scouts of Nassau County Leadership training provides volunteer Leaders with the basics of Girl Scouting history, program goals, safety, troop management and age level programming.
For new Girl Scout Leaders there are three required courses:
1. Welcome to Girl Scouting
This online session introduces Girl Scout history and traditions of Girl Scouting as well as the structure of Girl Scouts of Nassau County. Welcome is also recommended for all Girl Scout volunteers.

2. Volunteer Orientation
This on line GSUSA course is a requirement fro all Volunteers. It provides an overview of the organization and the impact Girl Scouting can have on girls today!

3. Leadership Essentials & Volunteer Essentials
The new required class for all new leaders and those transitioning to a new level is called "Leadership Essentials". You can now take this course online, simply click this link - Leadership Essentials
Additional resources for you to use at anytime are Volunteer Essentials 2010 (previously know as Safety-Wise) and Safety Activity Checkpoints. These easy to use documents contain all you need to know about getting started, planning your meetings, ensuring safety during activities or trips and planning programs that are fun!
We are now offering Leadership Essentials for Daisy & Brownie Leaders in a group learning style that will help you get started with your Troop and provide you with information about combining Daisy Petals and Brownie Try-Its with Journey Awards!

Are you a Junior, Cadette, Senior or Ambassador Leader / Mentor that would like to take Leadership Essentials in a group format? Please see the schedule below to sign up for this class where we will be reviewing the Journey books and discussing the requirements for Bronze, Silver & Gold Awards!

Level Training (Not required but recommended)
The "level" classes for Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior & Ambassador can be used to supplement your leadership development. If you choose to take one or all of these on-line courses, please complete the five questions at the end of the training so that we can add this to your volunteer file.
