Leadership Training
Girl Scouts of Nassau County Leadership training provides volunteer Leaders with the basics of Girl Scouting history, program goals, safety, troop management and age level programming.
For new Girl Scout Leaders there are three required courses:
1. Welcome to Girl Scouting
This online session introduces Girl Scout history and traditions of Girl Scouting as well as the structure of Girl Scouts of Nassau County. Welcome is also recommended for all Girl Scout volunteers.

2. Volunteer Orientation
This GSUSA on line course for new troop leaders and co-leaders includes. We ask that you come to the office to pick up the Volunteer Orientation Packet. This packet contains a copy of Safey- Wise; a guide to Girl Scout safety checkpoints and security guidelines.. You or someone you know may request the packet at our front desk during regular business hours.
GSUSA is currently experiencing problems with the Learning Log (quiz) part of this course, below are the questions that you will need to answer. When you have completed the course please answer these simple open ended questions and return your responses to bompanej@gsnc.org. Thank you!

- How can you use the three Girl Scout processes – girl led, learn by doing, and cooperative learning – in your volunteer role?
- List three ways, including the reasons why, you would enjoy being involved in Girl Scouts.

3. Leadership Essentials
The new required class for all new leaders and those transitioning to a new level is called "Leadership Essentials". You can now take this course online at our web site! Please click on this link to begin the Leadership Essentials course!
If you prefer to take the course in person please see the schedule at the bottom of this page and register online.
Level Training (Not required but recommended)
The "level" classes for Daisy, Brownie, Junior and Cadette, Senior & Ambassador (or Advisor to Girls) are no longer required courses for volunteers but can be used to supplement your leadership development. If you choose to take one or all of these on-line courses, please complete the five questions at the end of the training so that we can add this to your volunteer file.
Getting Started With Your Troop Workshop (optional)
Join us for an optional 1.5 hour workshop on the basics of starting up with your Troop. Meetings, Dues, Funding, Trips and Safety are covered. New sessions will be posted soon! Can't get to the workshop? Click the following link for all of the course content! Getting Started With Your Troop
