It’s possible to turn just about ANY activity into a high-quality Girl Scout experience by being purposeful about how activities are structured.
Strive to weave in the three keys to leadership and the Girl Scout processes with each activity:
Earning a Daisy Petal, Try-It, badge, or interest project
Baking a cake
A camping trip
Think about which of the 15 leadership outcomes are being met with each activity. Could you possibly meet another one by slightly changing the activity?
The girls will not necessarily notice you doing these things – they’ll just think they’re having fun. But, you’ll be able to notice their skills growing, and you’ll see outcomes being met along the way. You’ll know that the girls are having fun, but with a purpose.
The biggest message here is that “it’s not what you do, but how you do it” that is important in building the girls’ leadership skills.
