Team Agreements

handshakeIt is important for Girl Scouts of any age to work together to establish ‘team agreements.’  These agreements should:

  • Be developed by the girls
  • Include rules and consequences
  • Be agreed to by all girls and adults
  • Be posted at meetings as a reminder to all

Why do you think ‘team’ or ‘group agreements’ are called that instead of ‘ground rules’?

‘Team agreement’ or ‘group agreement’ sets a more positive tone
 and are developed through a collaborative process!

 Team agreement implies that the girls develop the agreement together, instead of  

 having rules imposed on them.

 

What is the value of helping the girls to develop a group or team agreement?

  •   Helps the girls manage conflict
  •   Involves the girls in establishing agreed upon rules and consequences
  •  Allows the group to establish rules and consequences in advance at a   calm  time
