Congratulations!

You have been elected by your community to be their representative to the policy influencing body of Girl Scouts of Nassau County. As a member of the policy influencing body you are a member of the governance system of the council.

Purpose of this Training

To provide Delegates/Delegate Chairs and Alternate Delegates with an overview that will help them understand and become better able to fulfill their responsibilities.

By the end of this session participants will:

. Understand the Delegate/Delegate Chair's role in providing guidance to the Board of Directors in its governance of the Council.
. Increase participants' awareness of the importance of the democratic process when influencing policy decisions.
. Recognize the differences between Governance and Operational issues.
. Look at how to support the Delegate Chair in communicating with Service Team and volunteers/girls within the Association.
. Understand the Delegate's role in relation to the Annual Meeting.
. Be able to identify and use key resources and know who to go to for help.

Council Properties
The Council owns two properties:
. The Service Center at 110 Ring Road in Garden City and
. Camp Blue Bay in East Hampton

In 2007, Camp Tekakwitha was sold to the Town of Southampton for use as open space.
