Grant Application for GSNC Troops Affected by Superstorm Sandy

Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) has received a grant from GSUSA to assist Troops in need of financial assistance as a result of Superstorm Sandy. These funds will be distributed to Troops who were not able to participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program to the extent they have in the past, or whose members have not been able to pay Troop dues and expenses due to Sandy.

How is the approval process determined?
Grant awards will be based on the amount requested by each Troop , previous participation in the Cookie Program (if your Troop was not new in 2012-2013), plans on how to spend the money, the number of girls/adults in the Troop for re-registration, and the number of Troop requests that we receive. Troops may or may not receive the full amount requested.

When is the application deadline?
The Grant Application Deadline has passed! We will no longer be accepting applications for the GSNC Superstorm Sandy Troop Grant!

How will my Troop be notified if their application was approved or not?
Applicants will receive an email as early as Friday, September 27th or later, depending on the date application is received, with notification of whether or not the Troop grant has been approved and the amount.

What about specific needs of individual girls?
Funds remain in the GSNC Hurricane Relief Fund for individuals that need to replace uniforms, books or other associated Girl Scout items. Families can apply through the GSNC Financial Assistance program. Application forms for individual assistance are available on the GSNC website.
