Girl Scout Gardeners
For the third year, GSNC girls have the opportunity to work as gardeners at The Farm at Oyster Bay. Both girls and adults will learn how food goes from seed to table. In the Girl Scout tradition of service, we will be donating all the produce to local food pantries. Plan to get dirty planting seeds, weeding, doing pest control, and harvesting the organic vegetables grown. This year we are asking for Girl Scout Seniors or Ambassadors, who are working on their Journeys to become assistant gardeners to help the younger girls. You will help plan activities and lead when needed.
By volunteering 2 days per week, for 3 weeks throughout the growing season your Troop will discover what it takes to be a gardener.

Any programs that feature the Healthy Living Initiatives Symbol are programs that are considered to be in line with Girl Scouts of Nassau County's Healthy Living Initiatives.
The Healthy Living Initiatives brings a unique perspective to keeping girls healthy. Girls define health in their own terms, placing as much emphasis on emotional and social well-being as physical health, nutrition and physical fitness. In addition to healthy eating and physical fitness, the Healthy Living Initiative focuses on increasing girls’ self-esteem, media image awareness and how to develop healthy relationships.
