Garden City, NY June 27, 2006 - Want to be active and healthy this summer but can't stand the heat and humidity? Register now for the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Summer Adventure Programs. Jumpstart your healthy lifestyle and enjoy the indoor air-conditioned fun!

"Obesity and inactivity are two serious problems in our youth today," said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. "The Summer Adventure Programs will help girls practice a healthy lifestyle over the summer, one we hope they continue well after the program."

Girls Scouts of Nassau County is expanding its summer programs to include activities that will lead girls to a healthier life. One program is, "It's All Fun & Games." Girls in grades K-2 and grades 3-5 will enjoy four days of age-appropriate fun, traveling the three-level high Adventure Maze and learning a different sport each day.

A second program is "Rock 'N Sports" for girls in grade 6. This program offers girls the chance to climb to new heights, literally! They will tackle the Adventure Climb, up and across three 10' panels. Girls will also have fun with arts and crafts. A third program named, "Drama Kids," for girls ages nine to twelve years old, will focus on learning to speak out while "acting out"!

Another program is "Fit 4Fun." This program targets girls in grades 2-6 that love it all. They will learn a variety of sports including basketball, soccer, yoga, dance, martial arts and a whole lot more! These are just a few of the many programs being offered to girls during the summer.
