GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY TO HONOR LESLIE SEGRETE AT ANNUAL LUNCHEON
Garden City, NY June 18, 2007 - To honor the dedication of community members and their continued support to help build girls of courage, confidence and character, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County will hold their 21st Annual Luncheon on Tuesday, October 30th at the Garden City Hotel beginning at 11:30 am.
This year, Leslie Segrete, a Garden City native and resident and most popularly known as the designer on TLC's Trading Spaces and While You Were Out , will be the recipient of the highest Girl Scout honor, the Juliette Low Award of Distinction .
"Leslie is an exceptional woman and her endless contributions to Girl Scouts and her community deserve to be recognized," said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director, Girl Scouts of Nassau County. "We are proud to honor her with this Award and thank her for all that she does and continues to do as a role model to young girls everywhere."
Ms. Segrete continues to appear on TLC's Trading Spaces and While You Were Out designing, building and executing home improvement projects every week. She also hosts The Money Pit a home improvement radio show. Ms. Segrete credits Girl Scouts for teaching her many of the skills she uses today in her career and life in general.
Throughout the past year Ms. Segrete has volunteered her time and services to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County though various programs. Most recently, she taught more than 70 Girl Scouts basic sewing skills and techniques to help them earn a Sew Simple Badge.
Girl Scouts of Nassau County builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. With 22,000 girl and 7,000 adult members, Girl Scouts of Nassau County has become the preeminent organization and leading authority for girls. The organization, now in its 95th year, continues to strive to serve Every Girl, Everywhere.
