MALVERNE RESIDENT ELECTED TO GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY BOARD

Garden City, NY June 11, 2008 – All Melissa Kane Connolly’s hard work and dedication to the community has paid off!  Ms. Connolly, a resident of Malverne, was elected as Member-at-Large of the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. The election took place during the 43rd Annual Meeting held at Hofstra University Student Center Theatre on May 7th. Ms. Connolly joins other Board Members in their mission to provide leadership and fresh and creative direction to the Council.
 
“We are so pleased that Melissa will be serving on our Board,” said Sandra Echols Williams, President of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board of Directors.“ Melissa will surely bring many positive attributes to our Board.”
 
Melissa Kane Connolly is Vice President for University Relations at Hofstra University, and is responsible for Hofstra's communication, marketing, external and public relations efforts. Prior to joining Hofstra, Ms. Connolly served as Director of Communications for New York State Senator Kemp Hannon and as the first Director of Marketing for Farrell Fritz, P.C., one of Long Island's largest law firms. She was named one of Long Island's "50 Most Influential Women" in 2006 and 2007 by Long Island Business News, one of Long Island Business News' "40 Rising Stars Under 40" in 2002.
 
She currently serves as President for the Long Island Women's Agenda, and has been active in the Early Years Matter campaign in cooperation with the Long Island Fund for Women and Girls. Ms. Connolly has served as her daughter’s Girl Scout troop leader for three years.
