FREEPORT RESIDENT ELECTED TO GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY BOARD
Garden City, NY June 11, 2008 – All Betty J. Monroe’s hard work and dedication to the community has paid off! Ms. Monroe, a resident of Freeport, was elected as Member-at-Large of the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. The election took place during the 43rd Annual Meeting held at Hofstra University Student Center Theatre on May 7th. Ms. Monroe joins other Board Members in their mission to provide leadership and fresh and creative direction to the Council.
“We are so pleased that Betty will be serving on our Board,” said Sandra Echols Williams, President of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board of Directors.“ Betty will surely bring many positive attributes to our Board.”
Ms. Monroe has previously served as a member of the Board of Directors and has held the position of Executive Vice President. She has been Chair of the Community Relations Committee, the 2002 Council Performance Assessment Task Group and has served on the Council Nominating Committee. For her many contributions to Girl Scouts over the years, Betty received the Girl Scout Thanks Badge in 2002 and was named one of GSNC’s 90 Women for 90 Years. Ms. Monroe is employed as Director of the Defense Contracts Management Agency in Garden City.
