GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY : PREPARING GIRLS FOR THE FUTURE FOR 95 YEARS

Garden City, NY May 17, 2007-"Being a Girl Scout says a lot about a potential job candidate," said Hilary JM Topper, President and CEO of HJMT COMMUNICATIONS, LLC. "Drive and passion are two qualities I look for when interviewing someone to join our firm, and Girl Scouts exemplify both of these qualities."   Ms. Topper, a former Girl Scout herself, believes that the organization provides women with key career and life skills that are valuable assets for their future.

After the Girl Scouts of Nassau County retained HJMT to help them with their public relations more than 10 years ago, Ms. Topper quickly became reunited with her childhood memories and love of Girl Scouts.  "Each activity we helped publicize was something that made me feel like I was really contributing to my community helping girls become independent and self-assured."

While shooting a video on the Girls Scouts of Nassau County in 2002, Ms. Topper met Jennifer Chory.  Later that year, Ms. Topper was named one of 90 Women for 90 Years in honor of Girl Scouts' 90th Anniversary.  Surprisingly, Jen Chory was the event's Girls Scout speaker. "When I heard Jennifer speak to a room full of people with such poise and confidence, I knew she was an amazing young woman," said Ms. Topper. "I remember thinking that she had so much ahead of her and that with the foundation the Girl Scouts provided, Jennifer would be successful in anything she put her mind to."

Ms. Topper and Ms. Chory crossed paths again as she watched Ms. Chory receive her Gold Award. "I decided at that moment that I wanted to see what she could do," said Ms. Topper. "I gave her my business card and told her to call me when she graduated."

Five years later, Ms. Chory made the phone call and is now an Event Coordinator at HJMT.  And Ms. Chory isn't the only Girl Scout working at HJMT.  The firm's Senior Event Coordinator, Lori Alexy, was a Silver Award Recipient.  Lori started with the firm more than two years ago as an assistant and quickly worked her way up the ranks.  Today, Ms. Topper joins the Girl Scouts of Nassau County in honoring 95 years of the Girl Scout's service to the community, and continues to surround herself both professionally and personally with people who exhibit the values instilled in her by the Girl Scouts.

In addition to her professional work with the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, through the years, Ms. Topper has helped with various volunteer projects including providing training to association reporters on how to get publicity for their troop/group.
