93 years of Girl Scouting in the USA.with a brunch for alumni Girl Scouts
at the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club in Port Washington.
Many women ranging from 18-80 years plus came dressed with Girl Scout sashes filled with patches and service pins that they’ve accumulated through the years. Brought together by a common bond, the women shared stories and memories they experienced during their years as Girl Scouts and enjoyed a delicious buffet. Edith "Mama" Katz was inducted to the prestigious Olave Baden-Powell Society for her many years of service as an International Hostess. Doris Riehms, past President of the World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides, and a member of the Olave Baden-Powell Society, was on hand to honor Mrs. Katz and present the certificate of membership. During an open mike session, alumni recounted their favorite
Girl Scout memories and guests enjoyed the archives and displays of
Girl Scouting through the years as well as the contemporary programs
offered today. |
