GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY RECEIVE GRANT FROM UNITED WAY OF LONG ISLAND

Garden City, NY March 24, 2005

Thanks to an allocation of $35,070 from the United Way of Long Island, thousands of girls who may not have been able to afford to, will now have the opportunity to join their local Girl Scout Troop and participate in various Girl Scouts programs and activities. 23,000 Girl Scouts in Nassau County and its 7,000 plus adult members will also benefit from these funds.

"We are thankful for the continued support from the United Way of Long Island and their obvious care for the youth of Long Island," said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director, Girl Scouts of Nassau County. "This funding will allow even more girls to develop leadership skills, share experiences with other girls and have fun participating in a wide range of activities."

Each year, United Way of Long Island makes a charitable contribution to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County to ensure the advancement and development of young girls in our area. “United Way of Long Island is a big believer of Girl Scouts, said Pat Foye, President & CEO, United Way of Long Island. “We know that thousands of girls benefit from Girl Scouting and we are happy to help in the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s initiative of helping girls grow strong.”
