GIRL SCOUTS TEAM UP WITH LESLIE SEGRETE AND NYC ANIMAL SHELTER

Garden City, NY January 8, 2007 - The Girl Scouts of Nassau County and Leslie Segrete, designer and carpenter from TLC's Trading Spaces and While You Were Out delivered 70 handmade cage comforters to the New York City Animal Care and Control (NYCACC) shelter on December 15th. These cage comforters are designed to help make the animals living in the shelter feel more a home while they await adoption.

The Girl Scouts originally sewed the cage comforters during a November workshop presented by Leslie Segrete to help the girls earn their Sew Simple badge. This badge was designed to familiarize them with basic sewing skills as well as spark an interest to delve deeper into the arts.
