GIRL SCOUTS REFLECT ON THINKING DAY 2007

Garden City, NY January 29, 2007 - In honor of World Thinking Day 2007, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County will join together with their sister scouts to celebrate the connection they have with one another and the sisterhood they share.

"Thinking Day is a day set aside from all the rest that focuses on the relationship we as Girl Scouts share with our sister scouts across the nation and throughout the world," said Donna Ceravolo , executive director, Girl Scouts of Nassau County. "Our mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character extends across the miles and we hope it is reflected in every single Girl Scout or Girl Guide in the world."

On February 22, 1926 World Thinking Day was officially declared. On Thinking Day, more than 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, living in 144 countries take time to reflect about their sisters around the world. Thinking Day is a day for Girl Scouts worldwide to think about and appreciate the values and principles of Girl Scouting. It is not only an important day to acknowledge Girl Scouts everywhere, it is also the birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting Movement, and his wife, Lady Olave Baden-Powell. Also, it is tradition on Thinking Day that new Girl Scouts receive the World Trefoil Pin during a special World Pin Ceremony.
