GIRL SCOUT COOKIES GO GOURMET

Garden City, NY April 29, 2009 – “Remember, save room for dessert!” says Carole Olkowski, owner of RS Jones restaurant in Merrick, NY. RS Jones is one of four local Long Island establishments that decided to spruce up their dessert menus this Girl Scout Cookie season and offer their customers a one of a kind Girl Scout Cookie dessert creation.

“I just couldn’t resist this opportunity,” says Ms. Olkowski. “Girl Scouts of Nassau County is terrific and I was all the more happy to be able to help out an organization that betters our community.” RS Jones is currently offering their customers a Thin Mint frozen ice cream pie.

“We purchased a case of Thin Mints and will offer this ice cream pie to our patrons as long as supplies last,” says Ms. Olkowski. “We think our customers are in for a real treat and we’re excited to continue to give back to our community in a fun way!”

Other establishments offering Girl Scout Cookie desserts are Copperfields Ale House in Bethpage, Gooseberry Grove in Oyster Bay and City Cellar in Garden City. The Nassau County establishments purchased the cookies in support of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County.

“Many thanks goes out to these restaurants for helping us try to reach our additional 200,000 boxes of Cookies sales goal this past month,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “These establishments have helped us continue to serve girls throughout Nassau County and never turn a girl away from Girl Scouting due to lack of funds.”

Girl Scouts of Nassau County builds girls of courage, confidence and character. Girl Scouting in Nassau County creates an accepting and nurturing environment, which gives girls a chance to build character and receive skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them throughout their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. With more than 22,000 girl and 7,000 adult members, Girl Scouts of Nassau County has become the preeminent organization and leading authority for girls. The organization, now in its 97th year, continues to make the world a better place one girl at a time.
