REGISTER FOR GIRL SCOUTS TODAY

Garden City, NY March 30, 2009 – Want your daughter surrounded by people dedicated to making the world a better place? Register your daughter for the Girl Scouts of Nassau County today! Spring registration is now open for fall placement in a Girl Scout Troop.

“We encourage parents to enroll their daughters in Girl Scouting and by doing so give them the opportunity to connect with other girls and positive role models while learning lifelong skills,” says Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of Girls Scouts of Nassau County. “Girl Scouts has many new initiatives aimed at helping girls discover themselves and their future goals and aspirations.”

In Girl Scouting girls will discover essential skills to deal with issues facing today’s youth such as, body image, bullying, peer pressure, and eating disorders. Girl Scouts also have the opportunity to connect with nature, learn wilderness skills and sing camp songs around a campfire at summer camp. In addition, there are numerous programs to help girls learn the importance of health and fitness, as well as educational programs that highlight math and science. Girls also get the opportunity to experience artistic or cultural activities that demonstrate healthy forms of self-expression.

Ms. Ceravolo adds, “We have been dedicated to girls for more than 97 years and although many of the activities and programs have changed over the years, our mission and our key values remain the same. We hope that parents everywhere recognize our dedication to help build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place! We would love the chance to continue to do so, one girl at a time, starting with your loved one!
