ASIAN TASK FORCE PROMOTES GIRL SCOUTING
Garden City, NY March 11, 2009 – Join The Girls Scouts of Nassau County’s Asian Task Force as they participate in the 3rd Annual Asian American Cultural Festival of Long Island on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Roosevelt Hall at Farmingdale State College from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. Admission is free for all attendees!
“We’re proud to participate in this cultural event that showcases different customs and history from around the globe,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “Our Asian Task Force is comprised of girl and adult members and meets on a quarterly basis to increase visibility and awareness for the Girl Scout Program to the greater Long Island community.”
By becoming a Girl Scout, girls from different cultures around the world will have the opportunity to reach their full potential in an all-girl environment. Girl Scouting helps girls develop confidence, strong leadership, social skills, a social conscience, a conviction about her own potential and self-worth and moral, ethical and social values that will provide her the foundation for a successful future. The Girl Scouts of Nassau County programs focus on topics and issues that are relevant to girls today. They include science, technology, engineering, math, self-esteem, financial literacy, health and wellness, anti-violence education, environmental awareness, community service, and more!
