Garden City, NY (February 2014) – Girl Scouts of Nassau County is announcing sponsorship opportunities for the annual “Girls Go the Distance” Walkathon and Activity Fair to be held on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Over 1,000 Nassau County Girl Scouts and Troop leaders will be joined by their families and friends, community members and local business owners to support awareness of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Healthy Living Initiatives.

Girl Scout Cookie Season Launches for 2014
Nassau County Girl Scouts Prepare for Order Taking Time

Garden City, NY – The highly-anticipated Girl Scout Cookie® Season officially launched on January 4, 2014, and during the next two months every Troop of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) will be brushing up on their business skills as they prepare to sell the popular treats to Nassau County residents. The GSNC Girl Scouts will be traditionally accepting cookie orders during the month of January before launching the Cookie booth sales campaign throughout Nassau County, as part of the “This is What a Girl Can Do” campaign.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County Unveil Newest Munchie Animal
Donations to be Made to Local Veterans and Food Pantries

Garden City, NY (October 07, 2013) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) is getting ready to exercise their business skills with start of their annual Mags&Munchies Program this October. During the Mags&Munchies program, Girl Scouts will be selling magazine subscriptions and tasty treats, and learning the five fundamental business skills of goal setting, money management, business ethics, decision making and people skills, while helping their Troops raise money.

Girls Scouts of Nassau County Forming STEM, Theater and Other Groups
Open Houses Scheduled for Annual Girl Scout Programs

Garden City, NY (October 7, 2013) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) offers a number of programs where girls have the opportunity to express themselves in different ways. These annual ongoing programs for Girl Scout and non-Girl Scout members between the grades of 3-12 help girls learn new skills and make new friends. Open Houses are scheduled to take place this month to get more information and sign up for programs.

MetLife Foundation to Bring Scouting to Young Latinas


Garden City, NY (July 15, 2013) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) has been selected to receive a $20,000 grant from the MetLife Foundation in order to introduce Hispanic middle school girls to Girl Scouting. GSNC was one of ten Girl Scout Councils nationwide to receive this grant.

Involvement of Girl Scout Dads Growing by Leaps and Bounds

Garden City, NY (June 12, 2013) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) are gearing up for Father’s Day by reminding the community that ‘Girl Scouting’ is not just for girls. In recent years the Girl Scouts have seen an explosion of involvement from the girls’ fathers. Their participation in their daughters’ lives through the Girl Scouts gives fathers the opportunity to share significant quality time with their daughters and watch them grow into young women with bright futures. Active fathers gain added benefit of building relationships and a community with other Girl Scout Fathers.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County “Go the Distance”

Garden City, NY (Tuesday, April 23, 2013) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County were joined by over 800 girls, family members, friends and the Long Island community for the annual “Girls Go the Distance” Walkathon on Sunday, April 21, 2013. The annual two-mile walk is part of Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Healthy Living Initiatives, a program providing Girl Scouts with activities and challenges to encourage them to make healthy choices. All funds raised during the walkathon are to support the Healthy Living Initiatives program.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County Hosts Surviving Bullies Program

Garden City, NY September 20, 2012 – According to PBS, up to 25% of students are bullied every year. Through the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s “Surviving Bullies” program on October 19th from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m., the organization is working to decrease this percentage and provide girls and parents with the skills needed to overcome bullying.

Long Island Residents Honored at the Girl Scouts of Nassau County's 100th Anniversary Gala


Garden City, NY September 17, 2012 – Join the Girl Scouts of Nassau County as they host their 100th Anniversary Gala in celebration of Girl Scouting’s 100th birthday! Come support an organization dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place on Thursday, November 1st from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, NY.

At the Gala the Girl Scouts of Nassau County will honor Deborah Schiff of the North Shore LIJ Health System with the “Courage Award,” Long Island Children’s Museum with the “Confidence Award,” and Dr. George Santiago, Jr. of Briarcliffe College with the “Character Award.”

Surviving Bullies Program


Surviving Bullies - Hear an emotional story of intense bullying and resilience. Fifteen-year-old Jamie Isaacs and her mother speak in person about their bullying experiences and how it has motivated them to take action. Taking place on Friday, October 19th from 6:45 p.m to 9:00 p.m. the presentation will be followed by a panel discussion about bullying. All girls in 6th-12th grade (including girls who are or are not Girl Scouts); parents, volunteers, and local community members are all welcome.

Garden City, New York Residents Achieve Highest Honor in Girl Scouting


Garden City, NY July 12, 2012 – While some high schools now require a few hours of community service for graduation, none go as far as the Girl Scouts who earn the Gold Award. This year Victoria Aldrich, Bridget Beatty, Bethany DeStefano, Katie Forbes, Chiara Gerek, Jennifer Jaeger, Michelle Lithgow, Marguerite Palucci and Alexandra Ruhl of Garden City join the record number of 121 Girl Scouts in Nassau County that have woven a minimum of 80 hours of community service into their busy schedules. These young women developed Gold Award community action projects that address social issues in their community or promote acts of kindness and goodwill throughout Nassau County. Their efforts earned these girls the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor that a young woman can achieve in Girl Scouting.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County Top Cookie Sellers!

Garden City, NY July 2, 2012 – Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s 2012 Top Girl Scout Cookie Sellers proved they could reach their goals all while gaining experience in goal setting, decision making, money management, business ethics, and people skills. Combined they sold 15,000 boxes. To be a top seller the girls had to sell 1000 or more boxes of Cookies. More than 14,000 Girl Scouts throughout Nassau County sold 1.15 million boxes in 2012.

DHL and Girl Scouts Deliver More Than 1,000,000 Cookies to U.S. Military

Garden City, NY April 12, 2012 - The Girl Scouts of Nassau County and DHL, the Specialists in International Shipping, have partnered once again to deliver more than 1,000,000 Girl Scout Cookies to U.S. troops overseas. On April 11th at the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Headquarters located in Garden City, NY, DHL Express picked up almost 50,000 boxes or more than one million Girl Scout Cookies to be transported to U.S. servicemen and women as a way to show appreciation for their valued service to our country.
