MALVERNE RESIDENT ELECTED TO GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY BOARD
Garden City, NY May 28, 2010 – Melissa Connolly, a resident of Malverne, has further dedicated her time to supporting, helping and mentoring future generations of women leaders! Melissa was elected to the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. as a Member-at-Large on May 24th at the 45th Annual Meeting held at Adelphi University Ruth S. Harley University Center. Melissa joins other Board Members in their mission to provide leadership and innovative direction to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Council.

McFarlane, Esq., President of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board of Directors. “With Melissa now serving our Board, we are positive she will help us to continue our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.”
Melissa Kane Connolly is Vice President for University Relations at Hofstra University, and is responsible for Hofstra's communication, marketing, external and public relations efforts. Prior to joining Hofstra, Ms. Connolly served as Director of Communications for New York State Senator Kemp Hannon and as the first Director of Marketing for Farrell Fritz, P.C., one of Long Island's largest law firms. Ms. Connolly was named one of Long Island Business News' "50 Top Women" Hall of Fame (having won in 2006, 2007 and 2008), one of Long Island Business News' "40 Rising Stars Under 40" in 2002, and has been noted as one of that paper’s "Marketing Achievers." In 2009, PR Week named Ms. Connolly “PR Person of the Year” in the Education category. Ms. Connolly is finishing her term as Immediate Past President for the Long Island Women's Agenda, is a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Long Island, and on the Nominating Committee for the Child Care Council of Nassau County. She co-chaired GSNC’s committee for the concession stand at the U.S. Open, the Annual Luncheon and the “Girls Go the Distance” Walkathon committees.
