Join The Girl Scouts of Nassau County as they "Go the Distance"!

Garden City, NY March 14, 2012 – There’s still time to register for the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, “Girls Go the Distance” Walkathon and Activity Fair on Sunday, April 22nd at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. The two-mile walk complete with entertainment and activities will gather together hundreds of Long Islanders, families, Troops, community and local corporations in support of gaining awareness for the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Healthy Living Initiatives.

“We encourage you to register, put a team together and get excited for this upcoming event,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “No matter rain or shine, it is always a wonderful day to spend outdoors with other participants, your family and friends for a wonderful cause.”

The Healthy Living Initiatives bring a unique perspective to keeping girls healthy. Girls define health in their own terms, placing as much emphasis on emotional and social well-being as physical health, nutrition and physical fitness. In addition to healthy eating and physical fitness, the Healthy Living Initiatives also focuses on increasing girls’ self-esteem, media image awareness and how to develop healthy relationships.

Families, Troops, community and local corporations will gather together for the two–mile walk complete with entertainment, activities and barbeque provided by The Meat House. Attendees will participate in fun activities that can help them learn about healthy choices, while Girl Scout Alumnae and corporate teams can meet today's Girl Scouts, network with peers and be real-life role models for girls throughout Nassau County.
