Girl Scouts of Nassau County Unveil Newest Munchie Animal
Donations to be Made to Local Veterans and Food Pantries
Garden City, NY (October 07, 2013) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) is getting ready to exercise their business skills with start of their annual Mags&Munchies Program this October. During the Mags&Munchies program, Girl Scouts will be selling magazine subscriptions and tasty treats, and learning the five fundamental business skills of goal setting, money management, business ethics, decision making and people skills, while helping their Troops raise money.
Every year GSNC sells the popular Mags&Munchies line, offering a variety of tasty snacks ranging from chocolate animals to dry fruit and nut snacks to gummy candies, as well as magazine subscriptions to over 550 publications. Joining the ranks of the already-popular Mags&Munchies product line this year are the Dulce de Leche Owls, a milk chocolate candy filled with caramel, and the Dark Chocolate Mint Penguins, a sweet delight that is bursting with a cool mint filling.
“This is a very exciting time of the year for us,” said Girl Scouts of Nassau County President and CEO Donna Ceravolo. “The Mags&Munchies program doesn’t only teach girls important business skills, it also teaches them about the value of giving back through ‘Operation: Stop Hunger on Long Island’ and ‘Project Thank you!”
Through “Operation: Stop Hunger on Long Island” the GSNC send these tasty treats to Island Harvest for distribution to local food pantries, while “Project Thank You!” sends local military veterans a subscription to a magazine of their choice. Customers will have a chance to donate $5.00 to one of the two projects that help GSNC give back to the community.
Magazine subscriptions can be purchased or renewed online as well as donations to “Operation: Stop Hunger on Long Island” and “Project Thank You” at www.gsnc.org starting on October 1st. Girl Scouts will be taking orders and hosting booth sales throughout Nassau County until November 13, 2013. The products make great holiday gifts, arriving just in time for Thanksgiving.
