BALDWIN RESIDENT ELECTED TO GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY COUNCIL NOMINATING COMMITTEE

Garden City, NY June 1, 2010 - Tyra Banks a resident of Baldwin, has further dedicated her time to supporting, helping and mentoring future generations of women leaders! Tyra was elected as a member of the Council Nominating Committee of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. on May 24th at the 45th Annual Meeting held at Adelphi University Ruth S. Harley University Center. Tyra joins other Council Nominating Committee members in their mission to provide leadership and innovative direction to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Council.


“Tyra will be a crucial member of the Council Nominating Committee,” said Diane M. McFarlane, Esq., President of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board of Directors. “With Tyra now serving our Board, we are positive she will help us to continue our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.”

Tyra Banks is a Senior Occupational Therapist for the New York City Department of Education. She also has a private practice, Cornerstone Therapeutic Services, Inc., where she provides Early Intervention services to children with developmental delays. Tyra is a Co-Leader for her daughter’s Junior Troop, the Chairperson for the PTA Reflections Program and Chairperson of the Nominating Committee for the Baldwin Middle School PTA. Additionally she is a member of the Baldwin High School PTSA Nominating Committee.  As a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Black Occupational Therapy Caucus, she organizes scholarship fundraisers and mentors students in Occupational Therapy programs.
