Over 800 People Walked at Old-Bethpage Village Restoration!
Garden City, NY (Tuesday, April 23, 2013) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County were joined by over 800 girls, family members, friends and the Long Island community for the annual “Girls Go the Distance” Walkathon on Sunday, April 21, 2013. The annual two-mile walk is part of Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Healthy Living Initiatives, a program providing Girl Scouts with activities and challenges to encourage them to make healthy choices. All funds raised during the walkathon are to support the Healthy Living Initiatives program.
“This year’s Girls Go the Distance walkathon was filled with fun, laughter and most importantly, lessons about healthy living,” stated Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “Our Girl Scouts enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day at Old Bethpage Restoration Village and we are so thankful to everyone who participated.”
After the two-mile walk attendees were invited to participate in fun games and activities which focused on healthy lifestyle choices, a lunch provided by Lackmann Culinary Services and tours of Old Bethpage Restoration Village.
