And, don’t forget about the CookieFest on January 28th at the Green Acres Mall!
“We are so excited for the return of Girl Scout Cookie® season, our favorite time of the year,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “As we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting this year, we want to thank all of our community members for their past and continued support. We hope everyone enjoys our Cookies, especially our newest addition, Savannah Smiles, as much as we do!”
The Girl Scouts of Nassau County will continue to sell the six famous Cookie varieties at the cost of $4.00 per box. In addition to favorites such as the Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-Si-Dos and Trefoils, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County in honor of the 100thAnniversary of Girl Scouting, will also be selling Savannah Smiles, the newest Cookie to join the Girl Scout Cookie family.
Savannah Smiles are crisp, lemon wedge Cookies dusted with powdered sugar and just the right number of lemon chips to deliver tiny bursts of happiness. And, when you hold it right, you’ll quickly be reminded of that world-famous “Girl Scout Smile.”
Two of this year’s Cookie events, Roosevelt Field on January 7th and Green Acres Mall on January 28th, will also feature the famous Girl Scouts of Nassau County Chorus! The Chorus will treat customers buying Cookies to a repertoire of patriotic, American standards and traditional Girl Scout songs. In addition to individual Girl Scouts selling Cookies and special events throughout January, Booth Sales throughout Nassau County will begin February 3rd. Operation Cookie is also back! Girl Scouts will be accepting additional Cookie orders to send to United States military troops overseas to offer them a small taste of home.
The Girl Scout Cookie® Program is a key part to the Girl Scouting experience. Much more than a way to raise money, the Girl Scout Cookie® Program is a hands-on, leadership and entrepreneurial opportunity, which teaches girls skills, such as goal setting, decision making, money management, business ethics, and people skills. These are skills that last far beyond the Cookie season.
Proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie® Program are used in a variety of community service activities, such as bringing clean water to people in Africa, documenting the history of a local town, building a Habitat for Humanity house, feeding the hungry and clothing the homeless. All proceeds stay in Nassau County to also fund council and Troop activities.
To find a Girl Scout Cookies® Booth, use the Cookie Booth Locator tool on Girl Scouts of Nassau County website, www.gsnc.org or download the phone app from your providers’ store.
