REGISTER FOR THE GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!

Garden City, NY August 29, 2010 – Registration is now open for the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s “Birthday Bash on the Bay” to kickoff the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting and Theodore Roosevelt’s 153rd birthday. The joint celebration will take place on Sunday, October 30th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in Oyster Bay, NY, the home of Theodore Roosevelt. The celebration will feature the famous Girl Scouts of Nassau County Chorus, Ceremonial Unit and hundreds of Girl Scouts of all ages.

“We are so excited to celebrate the 100 years of Girl Scouting with a joint celebration that not only honors our 26th President but also our founder Juliette Low’s 151st birthday,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “We hope that our community will join us on this special occasion as we celebrate the 100 years of Girl Scouts that created generations of women leaders.”

Attendees will participate in fun activities including Point-to-Point Walks, guided nature trail programs, Roosevelt House Tours, Sagamore Hill old time games, bee keeping demonstrations, wind turbine activities, bulb planting, vegetable print-making and more.

Participants will also be able to visit Troop activity tables relating to Girl Scouts of Nassau County programs, citizenship and environment. In addition, real-life performers will entertain all attendees with their impersonations of Juliette Gordon Low and Theodore Roosevelt during opening and closing ceremonies and the birthday celebration.
