Garden City, NY November 11, 2011 – The 25th annual Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Annual Luncheon took place on Tuesday, October 25th at the Garden City Hotel from 11:00am to 2:00pm. With more than 200 community leaders, business executives and past and present Girl Scouts in attendance, the luncheon honored three outstanding members of the Long Island community for their continued support of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County and the positive difference they have made.
“This year we were proud to recognize Cathleen Colvin, Virgin Atlantic Cargo and Cynthia Friedman, three stand out members of our community whose hard work and dedication has helped pave the way for future generations of women leaders,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. “Our Annual Luncheon gives us the opportunity to thank our supporters for their dedication to Girl Scouting, who have made a difference in the lives of girls throughout our county and Council, celebrate the accomplishments of the year and look forward to what’s to come in the year ahead.”
Cathleen Colvin of Oyster Bay is a strong role model for today’s Girl Scouts. She is not only a corporate lawyer, but also a mother of three and an involved community member. Professionally, Ms. Colvin has worked as a corporate attorney for nearly 20 years, where she has been associated with prestigious firms, such as Shearman & Stearling, LLP, Baker & McKenzie in Santiago, Chile and the Independent Film Channel. On Long Island, Virgin Atlantic Cargo supports the Dan Ferrante Golf Outing, which supports Cancer research and youth focused organizations, such as Girl Scouts of Nassau County.
Cynthia Friedman of Floral Park, NY has been a dedicated Girl Scout volunteer for the last 24 years. While working as an officer for Citibank, she held positions such as event planner, Consultant, Delegate Chair, Acting Chair ofAssociation Volunteers and many more in the Floral Park/Bellerose/Stewart Manor Association.
