Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

TD BANK HELPS GIRL SCOUTS OF NASSAU COUNTY SCOUTREACH PROJECT

Garden City, NY March 11, 2010 – Thanks to TD Bank’s recent $7,500 donation, Girl Scouts of Nassau County can continue its Scoutreach project and ensure that girl and adult memberships reflect the racial, ethnic, social and economic demographics of Nassau County.

“It’s businesses like TD Bank that truly make an impact on our organization and our local community,” says Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “We could not reach nearly as many girls in need without the support of companies that truly care about the well-being of those less fortunate. Our most heartfelt thanks goes out to TD Bank for their more than generous donation.”

Scoutreach targets girls in homeless shelters, low-income housing and agencies providing services to children who live in low-income communities. Providing services in or near their homes helps girls overcome barriers to participation due to lack of financial resources and adult volunteers. This funding from TD Bank will subsidize girl and adult registration fees, program supplies, equipment and refreshments. Also, funding enables groups to plan and carry out their own special trips and events and to participate in Council-wide activities including summer camp.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County builds girls of courage, confidence and character. Girl Scouting in Nassau County creates an accepting and nurturing environment, which gives girls a chance to build character and receive skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them throughout their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. With more than 22,000 girl and 7,000 adult members, Girl Scouts of Nassau County has become the preeminent organization and leading authority for girls. The organization, now in its 98th year, continues to make the world a better place one girl at a time.
