Governance
A Message from
Diane McFarlane
President and Chief Volunteer Officer
Girl Scouts of Nassau County
Dear Girl Scouts,
Our Annual Meeting on May 13 was great! I was thrilled that we had the required two-thirds of the total Voting Members of the Council at the meeting in order to consider the three Proposals that were on the agenda. I know that for many of you the debate was passionate, heartfelt – and exciting! While two of the Proposals did not carry, I hope that we have stirred the interest of our membership to bring back these issues and other matters of concern to our Delegate body next year.
I am delighted that our girls will now have the opportunity to have a voice in governance in their local Associations. That is a great step forward for our girls and our Council. I will be working with our Girls Leading Girls group to get the message out to all of our Girls.
I am honored, humbled and ready to serve as your President and Chief Volunteer Officer. I give thanks and praise to Sandra Echols Williams for her service these past two years, and to all of the women who have preceded me in this job.
My vision is clear and concise. We will continue to work together towards achieving the common goal of helping our girls build courage, confidence and character. The best interest of our girls must come first in whatever we do as Board members, CAVS, Delegates, Troop Leaders, parents and volunteers. Girl Scouts of Nassau County are experts on girls. We will continue to work together to be the leaders and experts for all girls and for other councils.
On behalf of the Board, I am reaffirming our commitment to continued communication with our members through the Delegate system, meetings, publications, electronic mail and postings on the website.
I look forward to working with all of you. Please call on me.
Sincerely yours in Girl Scouting,
Diane McFarlane, Esq.
President and Chief Volunteer Officer
