Community Service

Participating in community service through Girl Scouts helps girls to give back to their community. Whether you are organizing a local food drive or cleaning up a littered site in your town, community service gets you to act as the advocates for change in your own town. Not to mention, community work done through Girl Scouts is a great activity to include on both college applications and job resumes! Click to learn more about Community Service Programs.

Girl Programs

From fun trips to local sporting events and discounted dance and music performances, Girl Scouts get to be at the center of the action. Your troop can plan an outing to a nearby museum or an overnight trip to an exciting locale. And remember, you choose how you want to participate! You don’t need to sign up with a troop to take advantage of the many programs GSNC offers – and depending on the activity, you can participate yourself or even with friends that aren’t Girl Scouts! The adventure is up to you! Click to go to Program Spotlight

"destinations" Travel Program for Girls 11-17

"destinations" travel adventures, which range from two days to three weeks and are for all Girl Scouts ages 11 -17, whisk you to the far corners of the Earth.  You'll meet remarkable girls, develop leadership skills, gain confidence, and enjoy valuable learning opportunities.  Click to learn more about destinations

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Programs

Way cooler than your science class, STEM programs at Girl Scouts give you a hands-on opportunity to learn about new and emerging fields in science and technology. From building robots to attending tech-camps over the summer, STEM activities help set you ahead of the pack in these new and exciting fields that are generally underrepresented by women. You don’t need to be a science whiz or a computer nerd to have fun – STEM programs are for everyone, regardless of your favorite subject in school. Click to view the Tech Page for Girls

SWAPS

SWAPS are defined as “Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere”
or “Shared With A Pal” and they can take many different forms. These SWAPS can be cute crafts made with a troop or made on your own – but regardless of what they are, SWAPS are a symbol or token of friendship to be exchanged with other Girl Scouts. Click to learn more about Girl Scout SWAPS.

Awards

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award in Girl Scouting. It symbolizes outstanding accomplishments in the areas of leadership, community service, career planning and personal development. To many, the Gold Award is an achievement that lays the groundwork for future successes in both college and the professional arena. By “going for the Gold” many girls establish a strong foundation for a life of service to society and the world at large. Click to learn more about the Gold Award and the other highest awards in Girl Scouting.

Chorus

Do you enjoy singing in the shower? What about belting out song lyrics into a hairbrush in front of your mirror? By joining the GSNC chorus, you can get the chance to be a part of a fun and exciting group-centered activity involving cooperative learning and performance. The Girl Scout chorus has performed at Mets, Ducks and Islanders games and a host of other Girl Scout events, some of which have even ended up on TV! Click to learn more about the GSNC Chorus.

Camp

Girl Scouts of Nassau County offers 2 Unique Summer Camp experiences. Girls can participate in Summer Fun Day Camp at Wantagh Park or resident camp at Camp Blue Bay Sleep Away Camp.
