Summer Fun Day Camp

Girl Scouts of Nassau County offers a traditional style day camp for girls entering grades 1-6 as of Sept 2017.

Each week girls participate in their favorite camp activities like  swimming, games, and crafts in addition to the special-themed activities for the week. Girls can register for as many weeks as they choose, each one with a fun theme including Making Magic, Showcasing your Talents, Solving Mysteries and a week of über-crafting!

All girls participate together in a morning-circle and flag ceremony, followed by the girls joining groups according to age. The rest of the morning, campers participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities planned with a special weekly theme as well as awesome traditional camp activities like songs, games, nature, cooking and arts & crafts.

After lunch, weather-permitting, it’s pool time! Rest assured that Nassau County certified lifeguards supervise all swimming.

Each week, a special guest visits camp where girls experience a unique activity. Past guests have included, “Reptiles on the Move,” a yoga instructor and a magician—so much fun!

Summer Fun Day Camps is under the direction of an on-site Camp Director and has a ratio of eight girls to one adult. Our staff is carefully chosen for their talents and ability to work with girls. All staff members are committed to the Girl Scout values of honesty, respect and responsibility.

How to Register for Summer Fun Day Camp

Exciting News for 2017!
Online Summer Camp Registration Opens February 6, 2017!

In our continuing effort to provide the best possible experience for our campers and staff, Girl Scouts of Nassau County is expanding our partnership with CampDoc.com.

CampDoc.com offers online registration in addition to our current electronic health record system for camp. Their system will help us consolidate and integrate camper registration and health information into a centralized and secure location.

The security, confidentiality and privacy of your camper’s personal health information will always be protected. Only Girl Scouts of Nassau County camp health staff will have access to camper health information, and the CampDoc.com site is secure, encrypted and password protected.

Once you sign up for a CampDoc.com account using the link on our website (which will be available in Feburary), you will be able to register your camper, select a session and pay online. Once registered you will receive additional information about how to complete your camper’s health profile.  We are excited to continually evolve, building safer, more productive and more efficient systems to create the best experience for you and your family! We can’t wait to see you this summer.

Financial Assistance - If you need financial assistance and reside in Nassau County, please be sure to check the appropriate box during the registration process. Once registration is complete, information and an application will be sent to you.  If the award granted does not meet your needs, your deposit will be returned to you.

Health Information - Camp Blue Bay and Summer Fun Campers are required to have a

Health Examination Form including physical and immunization dates to be completed by a physician.

Parents will need to upload the forms and complete a health history online using Campdoc.com.

Camp Policies

Expectations
A Camper Code of Conduct is included with the registration form. Please review the camp guidelines with your camper before registering, so everyone understands the expectations. Both parent/guardian and camper signatures are required on this document to register for camp.

Refund Policy
The $50 per session deposit will not be refunded or transferred after camp registration is confirmed. The balance of the fee will be refunded only if the camper does not attend due to illness or injury that is confirmed by physician’s letter. No refunds will be made if a camper cancels, arrives late, leaves early or does not attend the entire session for any reason.

What Happens if it Rains

Don’t worry; rainy days are just as fun as the sunny ones. On mornings when the weather is threatening, our Wantagh Park Summer Fun Director reviews the weather forecast for the day and determines where camp will take place.  If the weather is threatening, she will make the determination to use the ”rainy day” location.

To let you know where camp will be operating, please feel free to call the Service Center after 8:00am at 516.741.2550 ext. 620. You will hear a recording telling you where the Wantagh Summer Fun Program will be held.

Campers will enjoy special-themed activities and events planned for use at the rainy day site. Some possible themes may include “Science Magic,” “Fitness & Fun,” or “It's All About Me.”
