Camp Blue Bay Sleepaway

 

ACA AccreditedBeautiful Camp Blue Bay is situated on 179 scenic acres in East Hampton, including beachfront on Gardiner's Bay, and numerous hiking trails through our wooded property. Camp Blue Bay is accredited by the American Camp Association.

We have programs for girls entering grades 1-4, grades 5-7 and grades 8-11 in September of 2010. Everyone will receive a traditional camping experience:

  • 4 campers per tent
  • Modern Indoor Bathrooms
  • 8 camper tents to a unit, supervised by 4 to 5 counselors in 2 tents
  • 3 family-style meals plus snacks daily

Camp Blue Bay has an on-site director, who supervises a staff that is carefully screened and chosen for their ability to work with children. Minimum of 8 girls to one adult, exceeding NY State standards.

Grades 1-4 (All programs include general camp activities.)

Discover the Fun (General Session) - Discover the fun that Camp Blue Bay has to offer.  Swimming, boating, cookouts, singing, games, arts and crafts, and more will fill your days, all while making new friends and having a wonderful experience.

Mermaid Cove - Join the other mermaids for a week of swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and building sandcastles at the bay.  At the creek, enjoy boating lessons, creek stompin', and a special "floating" lunch.  Then dry off and enjoy the other camp activities.

Fairy Tales - Come join in the fairy fun and magic while staying in a Troop House in our beautiful enchanted forest.  Fairy princesses will listen to fairy stories, build fairy castles, attend a fairy ball and still have time to enjoy the general camp activities.  So put on your fairy wings, wave your magic wand and don't forget the pixie dust!


Grades 5-7 (All programs include general camp activities.)

Fun in the Sun (General Session) - This general program includes a wonderful selection of activities like swimming, boating, cookouts, arts & crafts, sports and games.

CSI - Welcome Camp Scence Investigators!  There is mystery at camp that needs solving and we need your help.  You will work together with your team to find clues, decipher and unscramble secret messages and codes while solvong tricky puzzles.  Be prepared for suspense!

Outdoor Gourmet - Enjoy a week learning a variety of outdoor cooking techniques - over a fire, in a dutch oven, or maybe a cardboard box.

Project Blue Bay - Calling all fashionistas!  Spend your week in a Troop House, designing and creating new fashion accessories, and then strut your stuff on the catwalk during the Blue Bay runway show.

Showtime - Star in the Camp Blue Bay musical - a yearly tradition!  Express yourself through drama, costumes, amd props while staying in the Troop House.

Slumber Party - Pack your favorite pjs and move into the Troop House for a session of music, dancing and a pajama fashion show.

Spice Girls - Spice it up as you learn indoor cooking techniques!  Spend the week living in the Troop House becoming a master chef and testing new recipes in the kitchen.

Team Spirit - Work with the other girls in your group participating in problem-solving games, tackling initiatives, and working on team building skills.  Spend extra time experiencing the elements on our low ropes course.

The Big Splash - Make a big splash during this action packed week of water fun!  Swimming, boating, snorkeling, fishing, and beach games await you.

Trail Mix - Come and refine your outdoor skills at camp.  Learn to use a compass, cook over a fire, build shelters, and tie knots.  Enjoy the sounds of nature and sleep under the stars.


Grades 8-11 (All programs include general camp activities.)

Girls Just Want to Have Fun (General Session) - Teens know what they like.  This week includes a first-night planning session to design a special program for the group.  A few possibilities might include swimming, boating, sports, dancing and maybe even sleeping under the stars.

In-Spa-Ration - It's all about you!  Relax, refresh, and pamper yourself in the Troop House.  Hang out, do your nails, try some yoga, enjoy a facial, and learn to de-stress.

Night Owls - Always summer tradition! During this TWO-WEEK session girls will have the opportunity to enjoy night hikes, stargazing and sleeping late.

Pajama Party - Pack your favorite pajamas, relax and enjoy your time in the Troop House

Splash Bash - Swimming, boating, beach games, fishing and sunsets highlight this TWO-WEEK session.

 

TRANSPORTATION - Campers transported via deluxe motor coaches that leave from and return to Hofstra University in Hempstead.

HEALTH FORMS - Camp Blue Bay requires a Health Examination including all immunization dates to be completed by both the parent and a physician. All health forms are due by June 1, 2010.

REFUND POLICY - The $50 per session deposit will not be refunded or transferred after camp registration is confirmed. The balance of the fee will be refunded only if the camper does not attend due to illness or injury that is confirmed by physician’s letter. No refunds will be made if a camper cancels, arrives late, leaves early or does
not attend the entire session for any reason.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - If you need financial assistance and reside in Nassau County, please check the appropriate box on the registration form, and a Financial Assistance Information/Application Packet will be mailed to you. If the award granted does not meet your needs, the deposit will be refunded to you.

SIBLING DISCOUNT - Receive a $10 per session discount for each additional daughter attending camp.


Bring a Friend Rebate - Returning campers can register a friend for Girl Scout camp who has never attended before and receive a $25 rebate check. Rebate checks will be issued at the end of the summer.

Lottery - All registrations received prior to Feb. 8, 2010 are eligible for placement by lottery. After Feb. 8, 2010 applications will be processed in the order received. Plan to register early as some sessions fill very quickly.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County reserves the right to change or cancel programs based on the number of registrations received. If the camp or session choice you select is not available, you will be contacted. If alternate camp or session is not acceptable, your payment will be refunded. There will be a $25 fee for any check returned to us by the bank.

Payments - The fee balance is due at the Girl Scout Service Center no later than May 1, 2010. Unpaid balances will result in cancellation of your camp registration. Registrations received after May 1, 2010 must be accompanied by full payment. “Cookie Credits” can be used to pay for all or a portion of the fee by enclosing your signed “Cookie Credit” Redemption Form along with a check for the balance.

How to Register: ONE GIRL PER FORM
Send a non-refundable deposit of $50 per session. Make checks payable to: Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. For credit cards, fill in all credit card information on the application. A $12 registration fee, which will be forwarded to Girl Scouts of the USA, is included in the Non-Girl Scout fee. To ensure that your daughter and her friends attend camp together, please send applications in the same envelope. You will receive written registration confirmation, a balance due statement and more camp information.
