Christine BonczykChristine R. Bonczyk

Christine R. Bonczyk, a resident of Hicksville, is serving as a Member-at-Large of the Board of Directors.  Ms. Bonczyk is a Health Benefit Administrator for the Nassau County Comptrollers office.  Ms. Bonczyk started her career in Scouting as a Girl Scout Junior and continues today as Chairman of The Critical Issues Committee, and also serves on both the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Nominating Committee and the Adult Recognition Committee. She is also a member of the Nassau Financial Credit Union Supervisory Committee and Nominating Committee.

Ms. Bonczyk received her Masters in Public Administration from C.W. Post, Long Island University, and describes herself as a pro-active, honest person who gets things done.  Ms. Bonczyk is a resident of Hicksville.

Lisa BurkeLisa Burke

Lisa Burke is serving a third term as a Member-at-Large of the Board of Directors.  She is currently serving on the Council Nominating Committee, a committee she has served previously as a member and Chair. A Lifetime Member of the Girl Scout Movement, Ms. Burke attended the past three GSUSA National Council Meetings and was a chaperone in Atlanta in 2005 and Indianapolis in 2008.

The mother of two Girl Scouts and a Boy Scout, she has been both Troop Cookie Manager and Fall Products Chair in the Oyster Bay Association, where she resides. A graduate of SUNY Plattsburg, Ms. Burke is the owner and president of “A Business Contracting Corp.,” in business for over 25 years. Ms. Burke prides herself on her ability to manage, motivate, and organize people and events for a common goal.

Denise HibbertDenise Hibbert

Denise Hibbert is serving as a member of the Council Nominating Committee.  Mrs. Hibbert lives in Baldwin with her husband and two children.  A former real estate agent, Ms. Hibbert now gives back to the community in addition to taking care of her family.

Mrs. Hibbert is the Co-chair of the Meadow School’s Community Outreach Program, an organization that collects and donates food to local families and pantries.  She is also part of the Community Achievers in Residence Program (CAIR) and for the last three years has participated in the Family-to-Family food donation program which serves families  all over the United States. 

Sandy HofferSandy Hoffer - Chair

Sandy Hoffer is currently the Office Manager of Sandra G. Johnson, CPA, P.C., a woman-owned and managed accounting and tax practice focusing on the needs of small businesses and individuals.  Dedicated to community service, Ms. Hoffer supports and participates in St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church as Junior Warden and Adult/Sunday School coordinator.  She is a member of several committees of the LI Center of Business and Professional Women and will chair their golf outing in July 2008.  Ms. Hoffer is also a member of Soroptimist International and the American Society of Training and Development. 

Having been a registered Girl Scout for more than 35 years, Ms. Hoffer is active in Girl Scouts as Delegate Chair and Program Liaison of the WARM Association. Ms. Hoffer is serving as a member of the Nominating Committee and serving a three-year term as a National Council Delegate. As Chair of the Nominating Committee Ms. Hoffer is Ex-Officio of the Board of Directors.

Wanda JacksonWanda Jackson

Wanda Jackson is Vice President, Human Resources for the National Urban League. In addition to her Human Resource responsibilities she manages programs and activities in corporate diversity, employment, and corporate volunteerism.  She is a graduate of Boston University’s College of Communication and received an M.S. in Human Resources Management from the New School.

Ms. Jackson has been a member of Girl Scouts of Nassau County and serves as Cookie Mom for two Cadette troops.  Ms. Jackson is serving a two-year term on the Council Nominating Committee.  An active community volunteer, she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta, a public service sorority and Jack and Jill of America, and has served as the Commissioner of Girls Rookie Basketball for the Baldwin Police Activity League.  Ms. Jackson is also a member of the Diversity and Disparities Committee for the Eastern Region of the American Cancer Society, the Chair of the Women’s Special Interest Group for the Human Resources Association of New York and a Board Member-at-Large for the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources, Greater New York Chapter.

Ms. Jackson has been married to her high school sweetheart, Zachary, for 23 years and has two daughters, Candace, a sophomore at the University of Maryland and a Silver Award recipient, and Courtney, a former Girl Scout, who is a freshman and student athlete at Baldwin High School. 

 

Steve KitchenerSteve Kitchener

Steve Kitchener is serving a two-year term as a member of the Council Nominating Committee.  Mr. Kitchener and his wife coached the GSNC’s Icebreakers - the winning team of the 2009 FIRST Lego League competition on Long Island.  Their team will go on to Atlanta to participate in the World Lego League Championship. Mr. Kitchener is also a camp and trip trained Girl Scout volunteer.

For many years Mr. Kitchener has been a youth coach of baseball, soccer and softball in his community.  Mr. Kitchener is a Facilities Manager for Cablevision and received a Bachelor’s degree from the New York Institute of Technology.  Mr. Kitchener lives in North Merrick with his wife Diane, a Girl Scout Leader, and their two children.

Dr. Adrienne O’Brien Dr. Adrienne O'Brien

Dr. Adrienne O’Brien, former Dean of the School of Media and Arts at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and currently a professor, is serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors. A member of the Community Relations Committee, she is also serving on the Council Nominating Committee and previously served on the Board from 2002-2008. Dr. O’Brien is a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts.  A media research specialist, she is very involved with the Council's Critical Issues Initiative and has worked with GSNC in raising community awareness about relational aggression by researching and helping to develop print and internet materials for the website www.namesdohurt.com through the student-staffed PR agency at NYIT. 

Committed to community service, Dr. O'Brien served more than 14 years with the board of Women on the Job and is currently on the Advisory Committee of The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County. She has been named one of Long Island’s Top 50 Influential Women by LI Business News and one of GSNC’s Ninety Women for 90 Years.  Dr. O’Brien received the Juliette Low Award of Distinction at the 2008 GSNC Annual Luncheon and holds the Public Relations Professionals of Long Island's Life-Time Achievement Award.

Bonnie Porzio, Esq.Bonnie Porzio

Bonnie Porzio, Esq. is serving on the Council Nominating Committee for a two-year term.  She actively supports the Council’s fundraising events and is currently hard at work as part of the US Open Concession Organizing Committee for GSNC.  Ms. Porzio is an associate of Rivkin Radler, LLP.  Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, LLP, Ms. Porzio successfully completed internships with the New York State Attorney General's Office and with the Honorable Leslie Crocker Snyder of the New York State Supreme Court. 

Ms. Porzio is a "WishGranter" for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, a former member of the Unemployment Action Center (UAC) at Hofstra University and a former Board Member of Long Island's chapter of "Dress for Success."  Ms. Porzio enjoys fundraising, volunteering and working with others.  She lives with her husband and two children in West Hempstead.


Colleen WrightColleen Wright

Colleen Wright is serving as a Member of the Council Nominating Committee for a two-year term.  Ms. Wright is dedicated to Girl Scouts and is honored to be part of an organization that gives girls the courage and confidence to be the leaders of tomorrow.  In addition to being a Leader for eight years, Colleen is a Council Trainer, Site Director, Delegate, Association Cookie Chair, a Gold Award Mentor and currently a National Council Delegate.  She is also the recipient of the Star Trainer Award and the Honor Pin.  This spring Ms. Wright has been busy serving on GSNC’s Committee for the US Open Concession fundraiser.

Participating in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk since 2004, Colleen has raised over $25,000 for that cause.  She is also the Vice President of the Mepham High School PTA and a member of the Long Island Parrot Society.  Ms. Wright lives in Bellmore with her family. A former member of the US Air Force and a graduate of St. John’s University Ms. Wright is currently employed by Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, Inc.
