2014 Cookie Program a Success!

By Lucy Effron
Director of Entrepreneurial Programs

Thank You Cookie Volunteers from Girl Scouts of Nassau CountyThe 2014 GSNC Cookie Program season is coming to an end. In spite of the Polar Vortex, our girls were out in the snow, wind , sleet and rain (and one or two days of actually sunny warm weather!) working on goal setting, decision making, money management and people skills. Even with the weather challenges we saw great videos on Facebook of our members staying warm by creating Cookie cheers and singing Cookie songs to encourage customers to buy Cookies!

We want to say “Thank You” to all those who made this Cookie Season a success. The Cookie Program is run by a few Council staff and a large group of incredibly hardworking and dedicated Volunteers. Our Association Cookie Chairs distribute materials, coordinate booth sales and Cookie pick-ups, and provide daily direction and guidance to their Troops. The Troop Cookie Managers review and enter orders in the eBudde computer system, arrange for booth sales, pick up Cookies, deliver Cookies and work with all of the girls and parents in the Troop to make them, and their customers, happy. Every girl who participates, along with their family, contributes to our Council’s success. The money earned by this financial literacy program is vital to our ability to offer activities, events and resources that allow Girl Scouts of Nassau County to move forward in our mission to develop girls of Courage, Confidence and Character who make the world a better place. Thank you to all for your hard work, your participation helps provide funds to your Troop, your Association and our Council.
