Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) Power of One Patch Program

By Chris Ferry
MVP Director, Membership

GSNC's The Power of One Patch ProgramLeaders: Share the joy of Girl Scouting and feel the pride in knowing that you opened your Troop to another girl.

Once again GSNC is offering the POWER OF ONE PATCH PROGRAM. Take in a new girl (or more) between December 1st and January 15th and every girl in your Troop will receive a free patch showing their support of a bigger Troop.

New girls in Troops mean more opportunities for friendships.

New girls bring new ideas, energy and resources to the Troop.

Contact your Membership Organizer or Membership Specialist for the names of girls that might be on the waiting list.

OR…host a “bring a friend” event at your next meeting! Girls and parents are more likely to join if they already have a friend involved.

COOKIES 2014
The Scoop on Cookies

By Lucy Effron
Director, Entrepreneurial Programs

The Cookie Program starts January 4, 2014. Is your Troop ready?

1) Troops should be discussing plans for their Cookie Proceeds, and how many Cookies need to be sold to meet those goals.
2) Every Troop’s Cookie Manager needs to attend their Association Cookie Manager training in November/December. Emails will be going out soon (if they haven’t already) regarding date, time and place.
3) Consider having your Troop work on one of the Cookie Badges which encourage the learning and earning aspect of the Cookie Program. There’s a badge for each year at each level.
4) If your Troop is planning to do any Booth Sales, strategize now on locations, signage and girl sales training. Don’t forget to make an Operation Cookie donation container!
5) Attend the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Cookie Celebration on January 11, 2014 (Link to sign-up section of page.)

GSNC's Girl Scout Valley

Girl Scout Valley Update

In the August edition of GirlFriends, GSNC announced the upcoming launch of a new communications tool for volunteers—the Girl Scout Valley. It was our hope to have Troop Leaders and Association volunteers on board and using this new tool by now, but our original launch date was too ambitious. We are working with our vendor to resolve some problems within the platform.

We will keep you informed. We appreciate your patience and hope to bring the Girl Scout Valley to all Girl Scout Volunteers soon!
